Forehead Lift / Brow Lift – Endoscopic Technique

A Refreshed Look by Lifting the Upper Face. A forehead lift, also known as a brow lift, is a surgical procedure to elevate the entire forehead region, including the eyebrows. The goal is to correct drooping brows, forehead wrinkles, and a strained or tired expression — for a fresher, more open, and friendly appearance.

There are two established techniques:
• the open approach (coronal incision), and
• the endoscopic forehead lift using small incisions along the hairline.

In our clinic, we prefer the endoscopic technique for its minimal scarring and faster recovery.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Patients with sagging forehead skin and low eyebrow position
  • Pronounced forehead wrinkles, often combined with frown lines
  • Low-set brows despite Botox treatment
  • Desire for a long-lasting improvement of the upper face
  • Typically suited for patients aged 45 and above

What to expect

  • Lifting of the entire forehead and eyebrows by several millimeters
  • Reduction of forehead wrinkles and glabellar (frown) lines
  • Visibly more open and harmonious upper face
  • A natural-looking result that maintains facial expression but removes the tired look
  • A more effective and lasting solution than fillers or Botox

Endoscopic Forehead Lift – Surgical Approach

The endoscopic technique is a minimally invasive method in which the forehead and brows are lifted through multiple small incisions in the scalp.

The goal is to lift mainly the lateral third of the eyebrows and smooth the forehead and glabella — without visible scars and while preserving natural facial expression.

About 3–5 incisions, each approximately 1–2 cm, are made along or just behind the hairline (usually over the temples and central forehead).

The tissue is gently released and secured to the bone or deep fascia, typically with resorbable sutures, allowing the tissue to heal and stabilize in its new position.

The incisions are closed with fine sutures and fully concealed within the hairline. Hair follicles are preserved, so there is no hair loss.

The procedure is performed in our clinic by Dr.Riikka Veltheim, FMH-certified specialist in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery.

She is highly skilled in both the open and endoscopic techniques and will advise you on the most appropriate method based on your anatomy and aesthetic goals.
