Those with drooping eyelids look tired in the morning and constantly give off the impression that they are not well rested. However, more sleep doesn't solve the problem: only a surgical procedure can help. During eyelid surgery, Dr. Colette Carmen Camenisch removes excess eyelid skin (“dermatochalasis”) and excess adipose tissue on the eyelid.
The tired look also disappears along with the drooping eyelids: you look fresh, rested and dynamic again with the heavy weight on the eyelids gone.
Drooping eyelids usually occur more frequently, but not exclusively, in older people. It can also affect younger people due to genetics. Sagging eyelids and the associated sleepy look are annoying. If the skin on the upper eyelid hangs over the eyelid crease, it can even restrict vision.
Dr. Colette Carmen Camenisch has extensive experience in correcting eyelids and is known for her gentle procedures. With great empathy, she makes you see better again and look better. In the vast majority of cases, the procedure goes unnoticed.

I was impressed not only by your skill, but also by your noticeable warmth and gracious behavior following my clumsy night-time injury. Your stitching on the right eyelid again early Saturday morning meant a lot to me.

Upper eyelid lift
During an upper eyelid lift, the incisions are made in such a way that they are normally no longer visible after healing. During a lower eyelid lift, the incision is made below the eyelashes, extending laterally, and is therefore barely noticeable.
After a lower eyelid lift, you should refrain from exercising for about four weeks. After an upper eyelid lift, you can usually exercise again after two weeks.
In principle, every operation involves certain risks (e.g. drug intolerance, bruises, wound healing disorders, inflammation or scarring). They also depend on the individual's state of health. The doctor discusses possible risks with you as part of the consultation and preparatory sessions.
In extremely rare cases, lower eyelid surgery can cause an “ectropion” (protruding lower eyelid). Conjunctivitis may also occur occasionally. However, both are temporary occurrences.
Lower eyelid surgery is a purely aesthetic procedure. For this reason, treatment costs are not covered by health insurance. In cases where pronounced drooping upper eyelids impair vision, for example, the costs are occasionally covered by insurance. However, cost sharing or even reimbursement by health insurance requires a comprehensive medical assessment.
We recommend wearing comfortable, clothes that are not too tight-fitting. It's also better to arrive for the treatment without make-up. Bring sunglasses that you can put on when you leave the clinic to protect your eyes and conceal the fresh traces of the operation.
The results of an eyelid lift last for many years. Although the natural aging process continues, the effect achieved by the eyelid lift remains. Should the upper eyelids fall sharply again over the years due to an unfavorable disposition, lifestyle, facial expressions or skin quality and lead to renewed impairment, the operation can be repeated after 10 years.
This depends on the individual's healing process, their personal requirements and professional and social obligations. It takes a few days for the swelling and discoloration caused by the operation to completely disappear (approximately one week for an upper eyelid lift, up to two weeks for a lower eyelid lift). However, any discoloration can be concealed three days after the stitches have been removed.
No, the eye shape is not changed. Only the superfluous skin and fat tissue is removed. An upper or lower eyelid lift does have an effect on facial expression, as the eye area regains more space and prominence.
It is extremely important that you always inform the treating doctor about any illnesses and medications you are taking. You should cease taking any blood-thinning medications (aspirin, aspegic or omega-3 fatty acids) two weeks before the procedure. Such medications can cause increased bleeding during surgery and delay the subsequent healing process. The doctor may decide not to perform a planned operation at any time if the surgical risk is increased as a result of the prior use of medication.
